Cadaqués (June 2014)

Cadaqués is sort of famous around here, a bit because it's one of the most beautiful villages around the coast, another because of it's usual clientele included artists like Dalí or Picasso. While I've been around that coast a few times (I prefer St Martí d'Empuries, in front of the greek ruins, for a beach day), I've never really had the chance to visit, so this past summer a friend and I decided to spend a few days there. And, wow, it's gorgeous, even if it starts to rain your second day there.

SEATED - Bang Bang

Pat

Bang Bang

So, this little story has haunted me for years for a few silly reasons, well, haunted in the sense that "nobody lets me really forget it" and it's a pain by now because it's really silly, but, when I met her, I had a bad impression of her and her best friend just because I wanted to see a concert and they wanted to talk (what? it was Fleet Foxes!… alright). Not really compatible. But, that's alright, my mistake, she's so lovely that none can really not like her. She's intelligent and feminine and articulated and so pretty in person that I feel ungainly sometimes when I'm with her.

10 of 12 (from January to October)

It's been months since I've been to the lab, any lab, and despite the fact that I'm saving rolls that I hope don't spoil (there's been a few... accidents), I still don't know what the results are going to look like. I miss seeing the results of my film shots, even if they are not amazing.

So, a bit of a remember of how this past year has been, hoping that the next ones I post are a bit better, that I learned something along the way :)

How did I load the camera that first time? I really don't have a clue, but suddenly, the film got unstuck and started rewinding itself. Because I didn't want to waste a roll I decided to load it again and see what would come of the mistake. Nature everywhere is what I got!

I'm a bit mad actually.

I bought a cheap and small camera from an ebay store that I actually trust, a lovely Olympus AF10 with flash that I planned to have always in my bag, and all the test rolls I've been trying with it were, apparently, "not exposed" (including the ones I took at Primavera Sound, which, grrrr).

The thing is that the lab I've been going for the negatives has been returning me quite a few of my rolls completely blurred and saying they were "not exposed" which, ok, if it happens once, not a problem, I might have made a mistake, but when it happens like 5 times and with different cameras... well, now something is going on.

I wasn't sure if the problem was the camera, the rolls I've been using, me, or them... so I decided to change labs, just in case. I went today for the negatives at the new place and they didn't have a single problem. What's more, they actually did a better job, even with the packaging and the storage. Once is not a pattern, I know, but, right now I think I'll work with them and see what happens.
