How did I load the camera that first time? I really don't have a clue, but suddenly, the film got unstuck and started rewinding itself. Because I didn't want to waste a roll I decided to load it again and see what would come of the mistake. Nature everywhere is what I got!

088 - THE LONG WALK AROUND THE LAKE II
What are this rules we do insist in living by? Why do we insist in forgetting nature and its ways and insist on always being right? On constructing all those shades of gray? I haven't seen anything gray in nature.
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about tropical climates, I'm a bit obsessed with visiting, sooner or later, the pacific islands and seeing hundreds of thousands of greens and blues and reds and yellows. I've even made a list of my future goals and one of them was, of course, going to Hawaii.
It's funny, my parents actually noticed before me... when they came back from the Canary Islands this spring they said that it was the kind of place that I would absolutely adore, and it's so true, after seeing their pictures I just fell in love. Since then I've realized that I'm drown to extreme places and geo-hotspots when it comes to nature. My favorite trips so far have been to Australia (Queensland) and Iceland. I've also would love to go to the Faroe Islands, the Orkney Islands and the Shetland Islands.
I might be a bit nuts or it might be the contrast with the constant lushness that it's the countryside in here. Don't get me wrong, I love it, the pines, the white rocks, the blue sea, there's a kind of constant gentleness that it's gorgeous. But I'm curious about places where everything is more "exaggerated" if you will, either cold or hot.
How it is where do you live? Do you like more extreme climates?
(Does anybody have a job for me in Hawaii, I'm trilingual, I can study a fourth no problem XD)

087 - THE LONG WALK AROUND THE LAKE I
A friend let me shoot a few rolls with his parents old Canonet 28. It has the most wonderful design, it's a beautiful camera to have in your hands, I've enjoyed it a lot, and despite my glaring inhability to properly use the viewfinder I think a few of the pictures turned all right. It's a wonderful camera for mid-range and portraits but all my panoramics are blurry... but that might be my eyes and how badly they can work sometimes.
I've mentioned a few times that my parents live in this village where there's a lake, I know it sounds repetitive, but lakes are *not* common in here and, traditionally, the whole village has centered its life around it. So there's also a lot of walks and some really beautiful places around it, and the one my father and I took this August is one of the longest, a few hours worth I think.
And because I'm mostly urbanite and a lot silly I had a few moments of, "what the hell, there's wild boars around?". In the hills around Barcelona there are LOT of wild boars and they can be quite fearless, I had an encounter once with a mom and her piglets and I've still can't get over it (I said I was silly, right?). My father laughed at me and told me that in a village farmers might still have guns and a lot of the fields are have electrical fences, so they are not as fearless. Which is quite true and it really shows how city-bred I can be sometimes.
Also, hi! the one strutting about in the first picture it's me... which, yeah, I think that one of the reasons for taking pictures is that I don't appear on them, so we'll change that.

087 - from the same perspective
This is what happens when you let me up on the observation tower with a camera: I go nuts and the nice people who use all digital look at me weird because they hear the click-and-wirr sound that my analogic makes. I like my corner.

In my campaign of spending as little as possible (I haven't bought a book in something like 2 months which for me is an amazing achievement), I thought I would never find a really good second reflex film camera... but a friend actually gave me her old Canon EOS 5000. Yes, it's one of the plastic and cheaper models but let me repeat: a friend gave me a Canon EOS 5000 ❤!
I love the EOS series. My father has a digital EOS and I completely adore it; I simply couldn't spend that much money on a camera right now so I'm so grateful for the gift.
My dad has been cleaning it and repairing it and last weekend we went to test it at the lake in the village my parents live in. These above are a few of the pictures from the test roll, the ones I think weren't all that terrible. I need to learn how to focus with it (miopia + astigmatism, not so great when using a camera), again, but that's ok!

049 - Banyoles V
These are the last pictures I took in my parents little town this past summer. The first two are from the gardens of a really beautiful private school. The last three I took following one of the irrigation canals, narrow and difficult to walk and with a few old washing sinks. There were only kids with skates and wild cats. And me and my parents. It was great.
It's strange to see all this sunny pictures and think about how I simply couldn't breathe due the heat, when it's so cold now and every time I go outside I to feel the cold air in my face.
Burned, of course.
PS: By the way, there might be a few changes in here, nothing really serious, but life is slowly shaping into something else.

044 - Banyoles IV
Lake light in august.
I tend to burn my pictures, but, you know, it's alright, my zenit doesn't have a photometer and everything I learn about light I do it the hard way: by failing.
I've been on a mini-holiday and I'm a bit behind in net things but I'll catch up pretty soon!

043 - Banyoles III
The only thing standing from 'La Puda' are the walls; the ceilings have gone as well as the floors, and plants and trees have invaded everything. It makes me sad and happy at the same time, sad because it must have been a gorgeous spa, happy because nature is capable of reclaiming what was hers.

042 - Banyoles II
One of the things that the volcanic ground of Banyoles has is a few warm springs, so years and years ago, there was a health spa called "la Puda". The water from the fountain is kind of whitish and smells like rotten eggs due the suplhur levels. It's abandoned now and taken over by plants and trees.
It's a very interesting experience walking around the grounds; there's a road in front of the main entrance but it's not all that used so sometimes it felt quite strange the loneliness of the place. Also, I got bitten by what it seemed a whole population of mosquitos (like always, I'm a friggin magnet).
041 - Banyoles I
My parents live in this village less than an hour from France called Banyoles. It's a strange place, geographically spaking, because everything is sort of volcanic... in a country were there's no geothermic activity at all.
This lake is sort of the center of everything since always but, aparently, now it's way smaller than it was years ago. There's an awesome draining system that goes all through the village though, with tons of old canals (with old sinks to wash clothes) and irrigation ditches that I've followed sometimes, even if it gets sort of complicated to pass through there.
It's also one of the favorite places for a lot of rowing teams to practice.
